The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) engaged Jackfish residents to review the results of a recent building condition assessment and provide input on the future of the Jackfish Community Hall, located at 1515 Old Jackfish Road.

The hall, located outside of Chetwynd, is owned by the PRRD and historically was operated by the Jackfish Lake Community Club.

A facility assessment in 2021, coupled with damage from a heating failure, determined that the facility needs substantial repairs, maintenance and upgrades to improve fire safety and accessibility. The facility has been closed since 2021 due to these factors. The hall currently lacks a consistent way to fund the repairs and ongoing operations of the building, relying on temporary grants and fundraising.

Based on feedback gathered throughout the various public engagement periods, the option being proposed through the referendum is to reopen the existing community hall.

    The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) is is engaging Jackfish residents to provide input on the future of the Jackfish Community Hall, located at 1515 Old Jackfish Road. 

    Residents are asked to consider whether they support repairing the hall based on the findings of the building assessment. Your feedback is important and will help the Regional Board decide whether to proceed to a referendum. If approved, the community will have the final say on whether they support a new taxation service area to fund the facility’s operations.

    The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) is talking community members to help decide the future of the Jackfish Community Hall at 1515 Old Jackfish Road outside of Chetwynd.

    We need your feedback to determine if locals still want to use the hall, whether they would support a dedicated funding plan and if the community is willing to continue managing its day-to-day operations. The input from this community engagement will help the PRRD Regional Board decide on the next steps for the hall's operation.
