- Staff held a meeting with the Steering Committee and proceeded to incorporate the comments received into the draft bylaw.

- Staff presented the draft NPFA OCP to the Board for 1st Reading.
November 2021
- Public Open Houses were held.
March 2022
- Staff presented the draft NPFA OCP to the Board for 2nd Reading.
July 2022
- Agricultural Land Commission endorsed the draft NPFA OCP
August 2022

Staff presented the revised draft NPFA OCP to the Board to rescind and redo 2nd Reading based on the ALC's direction.

What's new:
- Old Fort Area - Lands within the Agricultural Land Reserve that are currently designated as Ag (LSI reserve) west of Enterprise Way are proposed to be designated as “Industrial Study Area” within the Study Area Lands designation rather than Light Service Industrial (LSI), given further analysis is required in order to determine the need for additional industrial land in this area;
- Old Fort is now proposed to be designated as Geohazard Study Area Lands in alignment with recent geotechnical studies and investigations. This will allow the new NPFA OCP to move forward and ensure that additional planning and review of the Old Fort area can take place and staff can bring forward proposed designations later when appropriate.
- There is a new section on growth management which includes additional information about population growth and land demands. It sets out direction for future comprehensive development planning around Fort St. John and Taylor. It also includes policies surrounding the need for protection of agricultural land, rural lifestyle and the environment.
- Housing Needs Assessment information has been incorporated into various sections throughout the document, including the creation of a new Section on Housing.
What's changed:
- Development Permit Areas have been updated to ensure that they match the land use designations and reflect the need to protect the natural environment and agricultural lands, as well as ensure that development in the NPFA is of a high quality.
- Land Uses have been changed or updated as shown on the attached mapping. These changes will help to guide and direct growth and development within the NPFA.
- The entire document has been updated to ensure it is in line with all current provincial and federal acts and regulations.
