Option #1: New Community Hall ($2,000,000)
The hall that was designed by the community in 2022 included the following spaces;
Multipurpose area
Mechanical Room
Men and Women’s Washrooms
Kitchen
Storage
Vestibule/coat room and
Large Gathering Space
The facility is designed at 3400 square feet, with space for up to 160 people at a gathering depending on the configurations of tables and chairs.
The cost to construct the community hall was recently updated in 2025 to $2,000,000.
Development of a community hall would have ongoing expenses that would be paid for through taxation. This means that annual taxes will be collected to make up funding shortfalls in construction, pay for operations, maintenance, utilities, and saving for replacement.
Option #2: Outdoor Recreation Area (up to $500,000)
An outdoor space could include such elements as;
Picnic shelter with fireplace and seating area (1200square feet)
Green space/field (already established)
Fire pit and seating
Outdoor washrooms
Paths to connect the spaces
An outdoor space like this could be developed for the $500,000 that has been committed through grants from the Regional District. If you like the idea of an outdoor recreation space, make sure to give us your thoughts about what amenities you'd prefer when you complete the survey.
While the cost to construct an outdoor space would likely be covered by the money already set aside by the Regional District, there would be ongoing expenses that would be paid for through taxation. This means that annual taxes will be collected to pay for things like maintenance, insurance, and eventual replacement.
Option #3: No Development
A green space with no structures.
