Are you curious what the results of the survey were? We've summarized your feedback here, or you can click here for a full detailed report!
Park Use:
The people who responded to the question would have preferred to use the park for picnicking with friends and family, skating or other ice activities, playing on a playground, playing organized or casual sports (badminton, volleyball, basketball, soccer), and playing lawn games.
Nearly 58% of respondents stated that they would not have wanted to use the park in winter, with 37% in favour of winter use. The remainder of respondents were unsure.
The majority of respondents expressed that they would not have expected to use any proposed park at night and that lights would have not been needed in any potential plans going forward.
Park Location:
When asked about the best location for a park within the community, the most popular responses were; community pasture corrals, on the banks of the Sukunka River, central to the valley, around where the garbage bins are currently located, anywhere along the first two miles of Cowie Creek Road, and that a park was not wanted anywhere in the community.
Support to move forward with Project:
The majority of respondents (11 out of 19) did not support moving forward with the project, with 42% (8 out of 19) in support of further investigation.
When asked why the project should/should not move forward the following comments (paraphrased) were received;
- More traffic in the community is unwelcome
- The roads are in bad shape already
- More garbage will be left in the community if a park is built
- That a park would be a fire hazard
- That park users would be disrespectful to private land and property.
- Residents are not in favour of tax increases for a park; and
- If funds are spent in Lone Prairie, a cell tower or upgrading the road would more supported.
