Project Background
The Osborn Community Hall has been closed since 2019 due to structural issues that would make repair or replacement cost-prohibitive.
Since 2020, the Peace River Regional District (PRRD) has worked with the Osborn community to explore options for the future of the site at 17526 Siphon Creek Road in Altona, including replacement concepts and design options.
In 2021, a new community hall design was developed with community support.
The project was later paused to allow for updated construction cost estimates and to review potential taxation requirements associated with establishing a service area to fund the project. In 2025, the PRRD Board authorized demolition of the existing hall.
In July 2025, community members, PRRD representatives, and the project design team met to revisit site use and discuss future opportunities. Feedback from this engagement indicated support for exploring outdoor recreation and gathering space options.
Based on this input, concept designs and cost estimates were developed and are being presented to the community in March 2026.
