Summer Project Update
At the July 9, 2026 Electoral Area Directors Committee Meeting (EADC) staff presented a report which addressed all the Board recommendations from the May 14, 2026 Regional Board meeting. The EADC deferred the report to the August 6, 2026 EADC meeting to have a fullsome discussion on the information presented.
The information presented on July 9, 2026 included:
- Comparison list of the permitted uses in proposed zones in the draft Regional Zoning Bylaw with the zones that exist in the five current zoning bylaws.
- List of all properties where a 'major' zoning change is proposed.
- A 'major' zoning change is defined as one where a parcel is proposed to go from one classification of zone to another, such as residential to industrial or agricultural to residential.
- Comparison list of the general regulations within the draft Regional Zoning Bylaw with the general regulations that exist in the five current zoning bylaws.
- An example Industrial flex zone which combines residential and industrial uses into one zone.
- A review of additional uses which could be permitted within the proposed Agriculture zone for parcels which are not within the Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR).
All information can be found in the EADC Information Report - July 9, 2026.
At this time staff are not able to provide an update on when the bylaw may be adopted.
