Project Background
Residents, businesses and communities in the Peace River region are experiencing significant impacts from natural hazard events such as wildfires, flooding, extreme heat, drought and storms. Climate change is worsening these events, making them more frequent and intense, leading to damage to property, infrastructure, crops and forced evacuations.
In response, the Peace River Regional District (PRRD) is developing a Regional Climate Resiliency Plan (RCRP). The plan aims to assess risks from climate-related hazards and help the region prepare for future events. It outlines strategies to improve resilience and the resources needed to implement them.
