Approval to Investigate the Costs of a Harvesting Program

At the April 11, 2025 Regional Board is requesting from the Province a one-year extension to the two-year aquatic vegetation harvesting permits. This extension is to allow for time to conduct a cost analysis of conducting a two-year aquatic vegetation harvesting program for Charlie Lake and Swan Lake including capital and operational costs, funding opportunities, and cost differences in contracting the work and/or completing the work in-house.

The Peace River Regional District has received approval for a two-year aquatic plant harvesting program for 2026 and 2027 in Charlie Lake and Swan Lake. The permitted harvesting areas include southern portions of Charlie Lake and western portions of Swan Lake. Harvesting in 2026 is not yet confirmed and all future updates, decisions and project materials will be published through PRRD Board agendas and the PRRD website.
